Um, all right. So I finally got it figured out, Snowy. Thank you so much for joining me. This is episode one of One Eleven Podcast. You are my first guest. How are you feeling? [laughs] Is that...
0:14
That's the wrong question at this moment. I feel like shit. [laughs] No, no. You feel excited, excited to be here. It's a Monday. It's a beautiful Monday. That's true. Um, 12, 12th of January, to be exact. Yeah.
0:29
It's a very- Yeah... memorable day actually. Is it? You know why it's so memorable? Tell me. Because I'm with you. No. Oh. You are such a charmer. [laughs] So how are you? So I'm doing great, amazing.
0:46
I just had almost a two-hour phone call with, uh, my partner in crime, Zonie. So, uh, very excited to, um, for the future, the vision that we have for CryptoFam and, uh, everything that en- that entails, you know.
1:02
Um, we got a lot going on, you know that. Mm-hmm. And I'm really glad that you're a part of that adventure. I'm really glad that you're gonna be, um, hosting with me for these TikTok lives coming up. Yeah.
1:15
Uh, I wasn't- The first... sure if, um, you were available today, uh, due to your schedule, but I did put you on the schedule. I don't know if you saw that on TikTok, so. I did see that. I did see that.
1:26
Uh, you actually have me checking TikTok. Like, you- Oh, wow... you [laughs] Yeah, got me doing stuff that I haven't- How's that TikTok experience?
1:35
So let's start there, actually, Snowy, since nobody really knows who you are, and you're creating your identity on TikTok now, for those TikTokers, um, what kind of content, because you're gonna be using TikTok more now, right?
1:49
Because of CryptoFam Radio. At least once a week. [laughs] Right. Right, at least once a week, on Mondays at 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, right? Exactly. Exactly.
2:01
So that's, that's more than I've been using it in the last few years, so- Wow... so I guess you could say that, that I'll be using TikTok more, yeah. [laughs] Awesome.
2:10
And what type of content do you wanna show your new audience? My new audience, ugh. I don- uh, mommy life, I guess, [laughs] uh, which at this- Mm...
2:22
moment entails that you, uh, babies keep on giving, and mine gave me a cold, so, uh, but yeah, that's it, really. And, and regarding TikTok in general- Yeah...
2:35
yeah, I think indeed the mommy life because that's, that's what it is all about, for me at least. Yeah. I absolutely love that, Snowy.
2:45
Um, I wanna talk more, just a little bit more about the mommy life and, um, our new series that we're gonna be embarking together on TikTok. So we're just not doing these TikTok lives to just do them, obviously.
3:00
We have a certain topic, a certain theme. Um, it's always been about Snowy Talks with Mountain Dew or CryptoFam, but I always felt like that was, you know, it just wasn't enough. I felt like we needed more of a hook,
3:15
right? Mm-hmm. And I feel like this new series that we're gonna be embarking on together as a team on TikTok will hopefully, um, I don't know, shed new light
3:26
on what it means for cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and how it interacts with the up-and-coming next generation. You know? Yeah, right. [laughs] Yeah.
3:37
Yeah, so- I want this for the current one as well because- Oh, for sure... uh, because creating that next generation [laughs] take, takes a bit. [laughs] Right.
3:46
And, and you're, you, you're pregnant with your second one, correct? Yes. Like, when, when's he due? 25th of April. Okay. 25th of... That's coming up. Yeah. That's literally- Yeah...
3:57
like two, almost a little over two months away? Three. Two and a half? Three. Three months. Three months away. Yeah. Okay. Sorry. Doesn't matter. No, no, no. It's all right. Time's- Right... time's associated, I mean.
4:07
I'm b- I had to, uh, I had to call for an appointment to, to get- Yeah... my, uh, my sugar tested- Yeah... uh, for diabetes, pregnancy diabetes, and they were like, "How many weeks are you?" I'm like...
4:20
I actually had [laughs] to UPC that, to go like, "Okay, I'm due the 25th of April." Yeah, there you- "How many weeks am I?" [laughs] Yeah. You weren't sure? Did you forget already? Eight.
4:31
Or is it that the mommy brain or what? [laughs] No. I'm, I'm just not all about the whole weeks and months- Yeah... and... No, I'm due the 25th, and if anybody- Mm-hmm... wants to know how many weeks I am now, grok it.
4:42
Go for it. There you go. There you go. [laughs] Go for it. Yeah, definitely. But, um, so, you know, I, I wanna talk about, and I think we should back up a little bit just for the listeners, you know, like how we met
4:56
and, um, how we got connected, that kind of whole story. Do you remember, do you remember where, where we met? I mean, you, you obviously remember where, but do you remember, like, how it happened? No.
5:07
I actually can't remember where. I do know that you've been in my DMs for weeks, and I was not ghosting you, but I was so busy. [laughs] Mm-hmm.
5:17
So every ti- you tried to set up a call, it failed because, uh, I saw it a few hours later, or I was busy at that time, or something like that. Mm-hmm. That I do remember.
5:29
You, you ha- you need, you needed to have some patience with me. Yeah. Of course. That I do remember, but I can't remember which space or, uh, through who we met, no.
5:38
But- So you were doing, from what I gather, and I could be mistaken too, but from what I remember, you were hosting these random spaces on X, and I just, like, casually came across your space, uh, along with a few other people.
5:51
I remember Digi was there. Tricky may have been there as well. A few other, you know, space hosts that we know mutually.
5:58
And, um, I don't know, I just kept catching you, and I noticed that-Like, let's be real, your voice. [laughs] 'Cause this is...
6:08
Mind you, this is the first time you've doxxed yourself to me, which amazing, you, you look as beautiful as you sound, so. Oh, come on. [laughs] I mean, I do have to... No, I do have some of this, this was really
6:20
a challenge and it, it still is. Why? Because- Why? Um- Hmm... yeah, this is really personal already, like just dive into it, right? Uh, I have a- Might as well, this is- Yeah, right... this is it.
6:32
This is why we're doing this, yeah. Exactly. Well, I have a eating disorder, and, uh- Really?... I, I fought like crazy to, uh, cut my weight in half. Hmm. And do it in a healthy way especially. Yeah.
6:46
And now being pregnant, I mean, I am not that skinny. [laughs] And, uh- Yeah... I think that, yeah, I, let's say I do not take pictures at this time, um, because- Hmm... I'm just not happy with how I look. But,
7:05
um, having said that, uh, I like what we got going. I like our connection. I was like, "Okay, let's, let's just forget about that for a second. And let's just- Aw... let's just jump into this and see what happens."
7:19
Well, thank you for being vulnerable with me, Snowy. I really appreciate that, you know? Without vulnerability there is no courage, and you're very courageous. No. Just wanted to say that.
7:28
And you're very brave, especially to doxx yourself with Crypto Fam Radio. So I appreciate you. Yes. And I appreciate you, and that's why I do this. I know.
7:38
I mean, whatever comes from it or whatever people might say or think, w- we'll see. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Exactly. You know what matters is the moment, what matters is the present, right?
7:48
And I'm a big, firm believer in, in feeling and experiencing life at its fullest, and that means being present in the moment.
7:55
And I'm doing nothing else, but I'm just focused on our conversation, and I'm being intentional, and I feel like this is what we need more of- Yeah... in today's society. You know? We're, we're stuck behind our screens.
8:06
Not to say that we're kind of are stuck behind our screens. [laughs] But still, I'm saying, like we're... But we have a purpose, we have an intention behind being stuck on our screens, to connect.
8:15
Humanly possible, right, to have that connection with another human being in a very intentional way. Kind of like how Zoom got started during COVID, right? The pandemic- Yeah...
8:24
and how everyone had to jump like this and, and have a Zoom call a- and to connect. Because- Exactly... there was that disconnection within our society, right? And with the whole part of the world was also suffering.
8:37
And so having this form of technology is huge, very beneficial for why we do what we do online and how we remotely work now. Like, this is basically our go-to. Yeah.
8:47
And I'm just really glad, you know, even you're a world away from me. What, you're like halfway around the world? Where's the Netherlands compared to Florida? Like, it's almost about halfway, right? [laughs] Yeah.
8:58
It's, it's, it's a flight. It's a flight. Yeah. Yeah. It's- It's a long flight. [laughs] Yeah. And then I'm like, when am I ever gonna connect with Snowy, like IRL? Maybe at an crypto event. Maybe in the near future.
9:09
But it's like I might as well start off the podcast just getting to know you as a person, Snowy, because for a long time, I don't know if you're aware of this, but I've tried to get you on our Web3 Women Wednesday space.
9:21
That didn't work out. And then I tried to do an on-chain chats with you, and you ghosted me for that one. But you weren't there. [laughs] I know. I ghosted you a few times too. I know. Tit for tat, whatever.
9:33
But- [laughs]... at the end of the day I've never really got to sit down and know Snowy.
9:37
We've always like casually, you know, like passed by or casually, you know, kept a conversation going for more than two hours on Spaces because, you know, that's, that's what we do.
9:47
This is, this is who we are in Spaces, so we can keep the conversation going. This is why people like us. But- Yeah...
9:53
but honestly, I don't, I don't know the, the real Snowy, so I'd love to get more background on like where you come from and where you were raised and how you, um, fell into this crazy world of, uh, crypto and Web3 because, you know, that's kind of where we're both at now, you know?
10:10
So- Yeah... yeah, take it away. Uh, well, okay. Um, I rolled into crypto th- in 2017, and that was after I had a car accident. Hmm. Um, the- How bad was the accident? Huh? How bad was the accident?
10:28
Uh, I was standing still and someone hit me with 60 kilometers per hour, I don't know how much in miles that is. Uh, I was in the car though, so it was not like- Okay... a person. But still, uh, when that- Yeah...
10:40
happens, your head moves like back and forth with 120 kilometers per hours- Yeah... to 200. [laughs] Right. So I had dealing with whiplash. Uh, I was- Right, whiplash...
10:50
dealing with, uh, um, not memory, a lot of issues remembering things and all that kind of stuff. So, um, the, the sucky part about all that even more is that I just switched jobs. So I had a permanent contract,
11:07
and I was like, "Okay, I want something else." So I switched jobs in April, and I had the car accident in July. And, uh, they were obviously like, "Yeah, we're not gonna, we're not gonna renew your contract."
11:17
So then unemployment happened. And for the first- Hmm... few months y- I got it covered. Mm-hmm. Uh, m- but it was still a financial strain because, uh, you, I... When you go into, um,
11:34
in- into government support, especially in with health issues, you get 75% of what you were making, which, uh, is was not a lot already, and then cut it down to 75%, that was nothing kind of thing. Hmm.
11:47
So I was like one of those people that went like, "Okay, crypto. Let's, let's try to make that work." Hmm. I, which, uh, I, I dove into it without properly reading into it first. [laughs] And then the bear market hit.
12:02
Wait, wait, when, when was this? 2020? The 2021? No, 2017. Oh, 20... Okay, still 2017. Okay. Yeah. So the ma- bear market hit, and I was like- Oh...
12:11
"Yeah, I'm not gonna sell at a loss."So I have, for some reason I was already a holder. Oh, so you just kept holding? Okay. Yeah, [laughs] I kept holding.
12:20
Most- I assume mostly just Bitcoin, 'cause there wasn't a whole lot of coins back then, right? Uh, I bought Bitcoin, I bought Waves, uh, Enjin, uh, I was able to buy- I don't know what that is.
12:32
Yeah, I can't remember what the deal was, but I was thought they were, that was good and I was like, "Okay, fuck it. Let's just [laughs] jump into that." Okay. Then there was Enjin, and Enjin was a gaming coin. Mm.
12:43
Um, and I bought that, uh, ICO. Mm-hmm. Uh, they launched, uh, during the bear market. Mm-hmm. Uh, I, I was in profit with that one, but I was like, okay, they, they got more coming. Mm. Mm.
12:58
So, so that was a conviction play. Yeah. I was convicted without being, knowing that I was convicted. [laughs] Mm-hmm.
13:05
And I kept holding and holding and, and reading up on, on what I actually bought and what the hell I was doing and, uh, what to expect.
13:15
And in the meantime, I met some people, uh, invested in my first meme coin, obviously got rugged on my first meme coin at the same, at the same day. [laughs] And [laughs]... It happens. Yeah. Yeah.
13:27
Part of, part of the process. Yeah, back then it happened already as well. Okay. Uh, so, so nothing new there. Mm. Uh, anyway, uh, met...
13:35
Um, got rugged on that one, but that was when CTO was not really a big, big thing yet. Uh, we CTO'd. Mm-hmm. And, uh, eventually we were all able to walk away with profit. Wow. Uh, there I was- Which coin was that?
13:52
Uh, that was Konk. Konk. Never heard of that one. Yeah, they gave, uh, they gave eventually, when we were able to actually ge- gain some traction, we gave away to, uh, uh, to ape sanctuaries. Mm. Anyway, um- Cool...
14:08
that happened. There in that project I met a guy and he was like, "I wanna start my own coin." Mm.
14:16
My partner at that time, uh, always had the dream of, uh, giving to charity, but not the big ones, you know, the local ones. Um, and he liked the idea, so we ran with it.
14:30
Then he rugged through me, uh, my partner under the bus, and said that we blackmailed him and all that kind of stuff. That's when he- Oh. Yeah, that, that took me, like, a few months to recover from that. Mm.
14:42
That's why also took me years to dox again, because of that time I was actually doxxed. Um- Huh. Yeah. You were? Yeah, I was. [laughs] Why, why's that? Why's that? Uh, because... Uh, I don't know. I think...
14:58
Uh, well, we did, we did streams, we did live streams, and at that time- Oh... crypto wasn't that bad yet as, as in criminal-wise. Mm. And, uh, I trusted the guy, you know. We, we, we talked for months. Mm.
15:13
Um, so I was like, "Okay, fine." You know? I, I, I don't know. I, I, I trusted him. Mm. Interesting. But yeah, then- But he rugged you. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah, he rugged me. He rugged me and blamed me for it.
15:25
Um- That's so messed up. I'm just gonna say that right now. People suck. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. The, well, the worst part is that at times it still haunts me. Yeah.
15:35
That I still get thrown out of private groups and stuff like that- Really?... because then pops into that group and goes, uh- Oh... and goes tell people stories. Mm-hmm.
15:45
And since he has some successful tokens, even though he rugged those as well- Mm-hmm... uh, people, uh, people follow him rather than someone they barely know. Mm. I will not call names, but, uh, yeah.
16:01
[laughs] Uh, he did it again, not this summer, but the year before. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, with a really, really big one, successful one. Mm. And, uh, anyway, uh, he still, he still haunts me.
16:14
[laughs] Sometimes he pops in my DMs and goes, "Okay, Snowy," and then he starts bullshit again, and all I can do at that point is send him emojis and GIFs. [laughs] But I, yeah, I can only laugh about it. Mm.
16:27
Um, but anyway, uh, from there I, um, met some people, some more people, uh, that dragged me into another token. Uh, and from there on, I became community manager, or at least- Ooh...
16:40
I, I hit it off with one of the, the guys on the team. We just connected really well. And, uh, he made me mod. From there, he made me admin, and, uh, within a month I was community manager.
16:54
And that's where my new love came from, community management. Mm. So, um, explain that, what a community manager does. Um, what, w- you know, like, what, what's the reasoning behind community management?
17:07
Because that might be new for a lot of people listening. Well, community management, I... The easiest way to explain it, in my opinion, is that you take,
17:16
um, away the burden of running a community, of building a community, and everything that is around that community, so the moderation. Mm.
17:25
Uh, uh, I guide mods, I educate them, I train them on how to best behave in certain projects, because every project is different, so every project needs different behavior. Um, I become the face of the community.
17:39
So the dev or the owner can just focus on what they wanna focus on or what they do best. Mm. And, and that can, that can mean anything. That can be running voice chats- Mm... uh, events.
17:54
Uh, also some projects just want me to indeed run the mods, uh, make sure that they are on par and, and know everything they need to know and, uh, be their point of contact, uh, between the team. Mm-hmm.
18:07
That if they have any questions, that they can ask me, and if I don't know the answer, I, I get back to the team, you know? That they don't have to focus or communicate with, with eight different people. Mm-hmm.
18:19
So it, it's, it's kind of on demand.Um, so it depends what they, what the team wants. Mm-hmm. Um, it also entails advising.
18:30
Um, because when you build a community, again, what every project is different, but every team is different as well. Mm-hmm. And I advise them, like, um, one project, for example, the, the guy, the dev is very sociable,
18:47
but, uh, when he talks about what he's building, it's really difficult to understand. Mm. Jargon. Just breaks out- Lots of jargon... because he's a dev. Yeah, yeah. Like for him, it's, it's like he's eating.
18:59
For us, it's like, "What?" [laughs] Right. And, um, what I do is just break it down for the people to make them- Of course... understand what he's saying, what he's explaining, and what his vision is. Mm.
19:13
So it's, it's just what, what the project needs really, and what I do with him is advise him. Like, "Okay, each, it's time to have a space again," for example. "It's time to connect with the people again.
19:25
Um, you wanna build this, then you gotta do this." You know? Right. It's, it's just go with the flow and advise the team what would be best for their project to make that community grow. Give me one second.
19:40
I need to blow my nose. [laughs] Yeah, sure. You're good. Yeah. No, you're fine. Pause real quick. Huh? [laughs] No, we're back now. Yeah. [laughs] It's fine.
19:58
I can cut that out. That was so creepy. Like I said, this is all prerecorded, so don't worry.
20:02
[laughs] And I'm not gonna, like, play the whole thing any- Well, it's more for just the recording part that I'm gonna get from the- Yeah... transcript anyway.
20:10
Um, but other than that, you know, like this is all prerecorded, so it's not like we're live. So. I know. I know, you just gotta cut it. [laughs] Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna cut it.
20:19
So, um, regardless of that, um, I, go back to community managers. Yeah.
20:25
Are they, are they specifically Web3 focused, or do you see community managers doing other, like being elsewhere in, in their professional life or professional world? Uh, you can also do it in Web2.
20:38
I do it for HeyGen as well, and that's a Web2 company. Oh, yeah. Um, so yeah. Yeah. It's, it's also about Web2 and, and then- Mm-hmm... different approach. Um- Mm-hmm... what makes HeyGen in my, uh,
20:53
perspective, or at least makes it connected to what I do is- Mm... um, they, uh, wanna touch down on that Web3, uh, community a bit more, so that's why they onboarded me. Like, you, you do that.
21:06
You know that, so get your ass in here and help us with that. Um, but yeah, it's, it's a Web2 thing as well. You can, you can do it- Beautiful...
21:16
there are, um, on LinkedIn especially, there are a lot of companies that are looking for community managers. Had no idea. I should tell Zonia that. I feel like that would be perfect for her. Yeah.
21:27
Uh, if, if it's, if it's remote, which it sounds like it's a remote kind of lifestyle, so. Yeah, 100%. Uh, you don't need, need to be in the office all the time. But anyway, so not, not about me.
21:37
[laughs] Uh, but yeah, I gotta focus. Um, in stating that, it sounds like you're almost like the spokesperson for the project. Yeah. That's what it really comes down to.
21:47
Yeah, I think that's the easiest way, that's the easiest way to explain it, yeah. Mm-hmm, spokesperson. Being the spokesperson. Yeah, and, and then mostly focus on community. Uh, some- Mm-hmm...
21:58
um, want me to do spaces as well. Mm-hmm. Uh, but yeah, you're, you're the spokesperson. I, I always say the face for the, uh, for the project, but spokesperson, face, it's the same, right?
22:09
I mean, so I'm especially because I normally don't show my face, so this is new. [laughs] Right. Right. So let's, uh, that's a great segue.
22:16
So you said you doxxed yourself previously in 2017, but as the years went by, you decided to not doxx yourself anymore. Is there a reasoning behind that, or did you see just crypto was changing and you were like...
22:28
Like, what, what, what was the whole, like, I guess the thing about that? Well, because of that guy. I mean, he was, he was paying- Right... people to ping my location. Right.
22:37
Uh, so when they ping your location and know what you look like, then it's easy to find you. Right. Right? Right. Uh, so I, I went, "Okay, let's, it's time to go in on them." Mm. So that's what I did. Okay.
22:50
From that one bad experience- Yeah... then you were like, "Okay, okay. Okay." So that kind of finishes your story there, ties it up there in a nice, neat bow.
22:58
So continuing on, 2017, 2018, like you've always been in crypto. Yeah. But in what capacity? Just more of a community managing role most of the time?
23:09
Or like where has that like really landed you in crypto, and then how did you evolve from that experience? Well, 2017, 2018 was mostly indeed, like, investing in, in the stable...
23:22
well, stablecoins and, and, and the, the projects that were- Mm... available at that moment. Okay. And then 2019, uh, was the, the, the year that I, uh, invested in my first meme coin, and that's where I met that guy.
23:37
And- Mm... we had a project, um, uh, that ran into 2020. No, it... Yeah. Hold on, hold on. Yes. I mean- '20, '20 during COVID? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that was- Wow... during COVID, yeah.
23:56
Uh- Okay... so, uh, that, that ran into 2020. Mm-hmm. And the end, uh, that, that ended in September, August, September 2020, and from October, uh, 2020, I s- uh, rolled into the whole community management.
24:14
So that's a bit the timeline that I went through. Perfect. And then from... So that was around the time when the NFT craze started really scaling. So did you start community managing NFT projects or- Mm-mm...
24:28
how did that go? No. No, I was not r- really big into NFTs. Really? Oh. Really. How come? I don't know. I was more focused, uh...
24:39
They, um, back in the day, they, NFT projects were more on Discord, and I was more focused on Telegram, and I had my contacts on Telegram, and in, uh, token projects, uh, rather than NFT projects.
24:56
Um, and I was just focused on building, building my name. Mm. So, uh, and that- And what did you wanna be known for? Oh? Oh, sorry. Sorry. No, go ahead. Fi- finish.
25:08
I was gonna say, what, what, what do you, what were you focused on building? Like, who did you wanna become? Like- An influencer. [laughs] No. Oh, yeah? [laughs] No. No. No.
25:20
Just, just that person that people reach out to when they need a community manager. Mm. And I, I've been rather successful in that, but now that market is, is kind of overflowing, and me living in a Western country,
25:36
and we've, we've talked about this before, me living in a Western country, I cannot offer 12 hours a day for, for 100 bucks a week. So it's, it's really difficult to, to compete. I mean- Mm...
25:53
quality wise, it's easy. When they see what I offer, when they see what I actually do, they go like, "Oh, yeah, that's a no-brainer." Mm-hmm.
26:01
But, uh, um, the market that we're in right now, people rather save money and go for a cheaper option than actually get that quality going. Mm.
26:15
But isn't that, doesn't that show you what project they really are in the, in the long term? Yeah, of course. [laughs] And I'm, I'm not crying about that. I'm really not crying. I'm, I'm, I'm fine. Yeah.
26:28
I mean, like, I still got my contacts. I still got some- Mm-hmm... legit projects that I know, uh, wanna work with me. Um- Mm-hmm...
26:37
but they indeed keep the market in mind, and then you can go like, "Oh, yeah, they, they, you don't have faith in your, in your product." I think that's not true. I think,
26:47
uh, in a way, yeah, sure, if you really have faith in your product, then, uh, you would launch, but they have been around for years as well. [laughs] Mm-hmm. Uh, w- they, they... I don't know.
26:59
I think they are around as long as I am, if not longer. Wow. So they know, uh, that eventually, especially how do people trade now, uh, you have to keep an eye on the market. Mm-hmm. Definitely. Definitely.
27:16
So, yeah, I'm just waiting really, and in the meantime, chatting with you. [laughs] Definitely. Yeah. You can't get any better than that, that's for sure. Um- Exactly. Could be worse. [laughs] Could be way worse.
27:29
Could be better, too. Uh- [laughs] No. No. [laughs] I still got food on the table. Well, no, I'm just saying- I've still got a roof above my head. [laughs] I got nothing to complain about.
27:38
I, I meant in relation to the markets. Um, but- Oh, yeah. [laughs] The market could be way better. Yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying.
27:44
Um, all right, so when you community manage, are there certain projects you like working with more than others depending on the, on which blockchain they're on? Or why don't we, like, dig a little deeper on these past...
27:57
I- if you're willing to share, I'm not sure if you're on NDA with any of these past projects or what. Mm-hmm.
28:02
But, like, share with me maybe some stories about, you know, some, like, great experiences you had community managing certain projects and kind of just the pros and cons that go with that.
28:13
Well, this sounds stupid, but I'd rather community manage on a project that's in a, is on a chain that I don't know that well yet. Oh, okay.
28:22
Because, um, that way I do not only have to focus on building the project but also on the chain that they are building on. So I worked for Sunduck, for example. They're on Tron. Mm-hmm. Didn't know shit about Tron.
28:37
[laughs] Nothing. Nothing. I still don't know anything about Tron. [laughs] Yeah. I, I will educate you in the next podcast. Oh, awesome. Awesome. [laughs] I'm listening intently. I'm all ears.
28:50
[laughs] I will educate you in the next one. No, but f- for, for example, uh, it's a, it's a really fast one but really expensive one. Mm-hmm. Oh. Uh, Sui, for example, didn't know stuff about that one. Mm-hmm.
29:01
But that one's more focused on gaming, at least that's the goal. That's why their, uh, uh, transaction fees are so low. Mm. You know? So, so I mean, and we- those are just the basics. Mm.
29:12
But, um, being on a chain that I do not know triggers me to investigate and, and also why would that specific project go on that specific chain. Mm. And, um, that makes- Mm.
29:28
It sounds so stupid, but that makes me more connected to the project that I'm working for at that moment because then I understand, okay, this is why they did that. Mm.
29:39
And, and when people come and ask, I can actually explain that. "Okay, this is the whole reason they went on Sui. This is the whole reason they went on Tron." Um, Sunduck, for example, wanted to be the first one.
29:51
The- there was no proper meme on Tron yet. Mm. So they did it. They were like, "Let's do this." Mm-hmm. And they became the first one, and they became a very successful one. Wow.
30:05
And, um, uh, Hippo, for example, went on Sui. Uh, that was a CTO. Mm-hmm. Um, but they went for Sui because indeed cheap transaction fees. Um- Mm... new chain. Mm-hmm. Not a lot has been built on it yet. Mm-hmm.
30:22
So they had to be the first in things. That's why Hippo, uh, went for, uh, for Sui.Um, you know, and, and like I said, because I have to dive into the, um, network itself, it's, it's... Yeah, I don't know.
30:40
It's, it's... I, I like it. That, that's one of the reasons I like crypto so much, is- Mm... the education and keeping the education up. Mm-hmm. Keep yourself focused and interested in, in what the hell you're doing. So.
30:54
Mm. Definitely. I love that. Um, talking about educating yourself on these projects as a community manager- Yeah...
31:04
um, so in dealing with the tokenomics, let's say, of some of these meme token projects, um, were you aware or, like, were you given an allocation, like, part of the, uh, agreement, you know, of working with these projects?
31:19
Like, how... I guess what I'm asking is, how much were you able to capitalize on being a community manager within these projects? I rarely take tokens as payment. Oh, okay. And that's because, um, it's risky.
31:36
You- I know. I know. [laughs] It's just, you never know what happens. I know. [laughs] And, uh- Yeah... that means that I can shoot myself in the foot by not taking tokens, but it also means that I- Mm...
31:46
shoot myself by not taking tokens as payment. Because if I take tokens as payment and the project does not do much [laughs], then- You don't get paid much, yeah. That makes sense... yeah, exactly.
31:56
Uh, so, so I'd rather- Yeah... so, yeah. I, I rarely, rarely accept payment. Got you. So you, you mostly have a going rate, and they pay that going rate- Yeah...
32:09
obviously in some form of stable coin so it doesn't fluctuate, it's not volatile. Yeah. And then from there you- And I, I still got-... you can get to work together...
32:17
I still got a sense of privacy in the, in the way that- Mm... uh, if, if they pay me tokens, I don't know when to sell. And I know when to sell and sell and there's a chart. Right. I know how to do that.
32:30
But I, I don't like the idea of them watching my wallet and knowing when I sold what and when. Oh. Yeah. I don't know. It's, it's... The, the... Some projects are really easy about that.
32:42
Others go, like, "Why are you selling?" Yeah. Right. And then self-shaming. And then- Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. And, um- Self-shaming while it's basically- Okay... my payment. Yeah, that's- That's the thing, yeah.
32:52
You gotta eat... not fair. [laughs] Exactly. You gotta eat. Like, that's not cool. Exactly. Exactly, so, so that's another reason why I rarely, um, take- Do you-... payment in tokens...
33:04
do you trade the chart with- w- within the communities or not really? You don't really pay attention to what their market cap is or, like, do you try to participate? No. Okay. Because, uh, I, I...
33:17
It feels in a way like insider trading. [laughs] Because- It does. That's why I'm asking... yeah, because I know. I know what they're doing. I know what they're building. I know what's- Yeah...
33:25
coming, and when it's to come. Especially that- Right... when. Right. And when they're- Of course... gonna do marketing and stuff like that. And- Mm-hmm...
33:35
um, uh, people say because I do not use that information I will never be crypto rich. [laughs] Oh. But I rather- Because you have ethics? Yeah, exactly. And that was about to say- Wow...
33:48
I'd rather stick to my ethics than, uh- That was gonna be my next question, but yeah, you can continue- Yeah... on with ethics. Yeah. What is ethical- Yeah... when it comes to- Exactly... um, being a part of a team-
34:02
Yeah... when it comes to projects like this. I think that's a great question that a lot of people need to know the answer to, or, or, or they, they don't get it enough, you know? Yeah. And, and still even then, right?
34:14
Mm-hmm. There's still that risk, and I think- Mm... um, you can see it as insider trading, which I do. Yeah. But on the other hand, I also feel, is that when I, um, when I know what's supposed to come, then,
34:31
uh, you got that false conviction. Mm. You know? You, you think- Yeah... uh, that news that they're gonna bring out will do something something. Mm-hmm. And, and you're holding, and while you see the chart go down.
34:46
And, uh, the crypto is still psychology. Um, psychology is tricky, so you can never tell what people do with certain news that comes out. Mm. So
35:00
besides the fact that I think it's insider trading, it's still risky because, again, you got that false conviction. Because you think that something will have a positive effect on the chart does not mean that it will.
35:13
No. There's no guarantee. Yeah. So yeah, that's, that's it, really. People are unpredictable. That's why... Yeah. Exactly, especially in crypto, because money involved with emotions- Yeah...
35:31
is, is, yeah, it's, it's a toxic kind of thing. And, um- Yeah... yeah, then I rather just trade charts than, than the projects I work for. Yeah.
35:44
But, but, um, come to think of it you're, you're not much of a trader, are, are you? At this time I'm, I'm not because I, I rather focus on Alex. And- Mm... when you have a kid it's, it's tricky. Yes. You know?
35:57
He's asleep now, and I can do a trade and go like, "Oh, this is gonna look good." And then in five minutes he wakes up, swallows up all my time, and then that trade is oof. [laughs] So. No. Why can't you- And-...
36:08
put a stop loss or whatever? So. Of course, but I don't know. A stop loss is also tricky because a- at certain points, um, a stop loss can hit- Mm-hmm... and then the chart suddenly goes up. It's true. Yeah. So I, I
36:25
rarely work with stop loss. Rarely. Whoa. You're a risk taker for sure. [laughs]No, no, but I, I just think that you gotta, you gotta keep attention to what, what actually is happening. Mm-hmm.
36:39
What happened before that stop loss would be hit. That's true. Uh, right? I mean, so many, uh, the... Especially when a token just launched. And, and a few...
36:49
two years back, that was really a thing, that they would do a shakeout. Mm-hmm. A fal- false liquidity pool. Mm-hmm. And stop losses are hit, and then they injected the money back in the, in the liquidity pool.
37:03
That's true. Lots of people lost lots of money that way. That's right. Yeah. And, um, stop losses can be good, but it's not always. Mm-hmm. Right. Right. Yeah.
37:14
I was just thinking for those who, um, they don't wanna look at the chart all day, you know? [laughs] Yeah, sure. [laughs] Yeah. That's okay. Or they don't have the option to look at the chart the whole day. Mm-hmm.
37:25
But again, um, you, you gotta see what happened before. Yeah. Right. Uh, like, like is it just a lower, uh, a lower low? Mm-hmm. Or it... You know, it's, it's, uh, yeah, you can't predict charts. Yeah.
37:41
It's, um- You can go like, "Okay, I wanna, I wanna be certain that I will not go below that price," and that's fair. Yeah. But, uh, you would still need to be looking at that chart, I think. Yeah.
37:54
And decide from that moment on, "Okay, will that stop loss, is that a realistic one still, or do I need to adjust it?" Mm-hmm. Exactly.
38:04
So that's why, that's why I, uh, feel like, yeah, when with Alex's just, uh, the challenge. [laughs] Like, when I trade, it's, it's during the night. Right. Right, when he's asleep and stuff. Yeah. Yeah.
38:18
Because then you're not bothered, you can focus. But you said you're not doing too much trading now. So I guess more than anything you're just more community managing. Is that right? Yeah. Exactly. For the most part.
38:27
Or what you've always done really. Yeah. And so looking at the timeline moving forward from 2020 when we had COVID, then 2021 we had the whole NFT craze,
38:39
and then after the, the, the big craze, then we had the drop, and then NFTs were basically worth nothing. Um, and then after the whole drop of NFTs and people were like, "Oh, NFTs suck now.
38:53
They're, they're, they're worth nothing," then they all moved back to meme coins and the whole pump dot fun. I think that's when Solana started becoming a thing, uh, I would say in, what? 2023, 2024. Yeah.
39:06
And so maybe enlighten us a little bit about that, because I guess that's your bread and butter, right? Meme token communities. Like, this is where the whole meme phase came in the last few years.
39:16
So that must have really helped, um, I would say your, your business, right? No. Not really. No? No, okay. Not... [laughs] Got it. No, because those devs that use pump fun- Yeah... most of them at least, not all of them.
39:30
Mm-hmm. But most of them, uh, are just focused on that quick money. Oh. And they don't wanna invest in, in that community management or nothing that's important to- Mm-hmm... just make something sustainable. Right.
39:45
Uh, it's- But there, there are other meme coins and other chains that you could have focused on during that time. I know some great Ethereum projects over the years. Yeah. You know? Or Sui or, you know. Exactly. Exactly.
39:57
Well, it's, it's... The meme tokens that were sustainable, uh, those are the ones that reached out and I worked for. Mm-hmm.
40:04
But, uh, it's, it's not like I, I had 10 projects running, uh, or communities running, uh, because the meme craze was there. Mm-hmm.
40:14
Luckily the meme projects that were successful were like, "Okay, Stoli, let's, let's work." Um, I'm more, uh, in general more as well, because it, it's more in depth on utility tokens. Mm-hmm. Okay.
40:28
They, they, they really want that community. They really need the people to spread the word about what they're doing, what they're building. The building. Um, and, and create those, those, those followers.
40:40
So I'm more about utility than, um, a- about meme. Just now? Some people Or have you- But that, that, okay... like, how, how long has it been since you were focused on utility? Just the last few years, or...
40:52
Uh, I've, I think I've always... Let's see. There, there are two meme projects that I worked with that was just a meme and stayed just a meme. Mm-hmm. And there is, um, like I said, Sundock, I worked for them.
41:08
They started as a meme- Right... uh, but eventually wanted to go more. Uh, then you have Hippo. Uh, they started as a meme. Mm-hmm. Wanted to build more. Uh, so
41:21
that, that's the projects that e- eventually I rolled into that started as a meme, but- Yeah... started to expand. Got you. Got you.
41:30
So what have you discovered over the past, oof, five years now, six years being a community manager? Um, what has that really shown you when it comes to, uh, crypto, Web3? That we think, we think Web3 is big. Yeah.
41:47
But it's not. No. Like, like a lots of, lots of commun- [laughs] No, but it's not. It's not that big. Lots of communities I, I worked with, I ran into the same people- Yeah... every single time. Yeah.
41:59
And it was utility projects, meme projects, even projects I did not work for, lots of the same people. So we think, again, that it's big, but it's not. No.
42:10
There was a study done of how many people actually own cryptocurrency in the world, the percentage of the mass of world. Mm-hmm. Guess how many people own cryptocurrency? I think- Out of 100% of the world. Yeah.
42:21
What, we have almost eight billion people on the earth. Guess what percentage actually own cryptocurrency? That they have- Two, like-... a wallet, like a ledger. Hmm? 2% or 3%? No, a little bit higher than that actually.
42:32
Oh, wow. Okay. Wow. Yeah.Let's go. Like, let's go from two to [laughs] It's, it's single digits, but it's, you know, it's, it's higher than 2 or 3%. It's about double that, about 6.9% was the last- Really?...
42:44
study that was done that people actually bought and own, and actually have a wallet, 6.9% out of the entire billions and billions- Yeah... of people on Earth. So still it's very small. Very small.
42:58
But the question arises for me, Andy. Mm. Uh, you got Phantom wallet, you got Meta- Mm-hmm... you got Trust- Right... Wallet. Right. You got, you got so many- So many wallets. Exactly. I own Phantom. Mm-hmm.
43:12
I own a Mask. Right. I own Trust Wallet. I own, I own a Sui wallet. Mm-hmm. Okay. A Tron wallet, Ton wallet. Wow. Um- For every chain, you have a wallet. Yes. [laughs] Just keep it light.
43:28
No, my point, my point is- [laughs]... like, what, what are the numbers based on? Is that, um, exchanges, uh, central exchanges or, uh- I'll send you the study. I'll send you the website. I have it.
43:42
Um, it was actually sent to me by a person, um, a founder who was actually considering about sponsoring Crypto Fam Radio last year. And, um, I think his project, I'm trying to remember where it was exactly.
43:55
He was based in Europe though, and I think he was trying... Was it a Polygon project or Solana project? I don't know, one of those chains, but he brought it up. He showed me the study.
44:05
I was like, "Oh, that's actually legit." Because you know people throw out numbers in spaces all the time. Yeah. Like, "Oh, only 4% know about crypto or 5%." Yeah.
44:13
[laughs] I'm like, this study shows you exactly 6.9%, and then it gives you the breakdown, shows you the countries per capita. Obviously it's, um, was it Dubai's number one? Yeah.
44:24
For most people that hold crypto, and then I think Singapore is a close second. And it shows you all the percentages. It's, it's very thorough. Right. So I will send you that information. It was very, very interesting.
44:35
And, uh, you know me being a journalist, I was like, "Where, where are the facts?" Because he kept saying the 6.9. Yeah. I was like, "You know, it's a great number," but I'm like, I need to- [laughs] Give me more.
44:45
Give me, give me- Give me more than just your opinion. I want to know the facts, give me the numbers. I'm a number guy, or I try to be, you know? So, um- Exactly...
44:53
he gave me, he gave me the article or he gave me the website. It, it checked out, so I was like, all right. But I will send it to you for sure after this, uh, interview. But- Yeah... you know, it was, it was...
45:02
I was blown away. I was like, okay. I'm like, part of me is like, ah, there should be more, but at the same time I'm like, you know, 6.9, it's not too bad. But this is 2025, we can do better. You know? It's like- Yeah...
45:14
we should be hitting at least 10% by the end of this year I feel like. [laughs] But I did notice that a lot of Dutch banks- Mm... are, are not necessarily towards crypto in general, but
45:30
pushing people more into their trading thing. Interesting. And that can be stocks, but in the, in the crypto as well. Uh- Okay... Revv, for example, uh, I don't know if that's known over there or not, but- Mm...
45:42
it, it, they, uh, advertise with, uh, the fact that you can use them easily to invest in crypto. So it's, it's getting pushed more and more by banks. Hmm. Uh, so, so o- over here at least. Okay.
45:56
So I'm, I'm curious to see what's, uh, what's coming from that. Yeah. Wow. Now having said that- Mm... uh, that makes me go back to web two. Uh, as I told you, I, I need to work. [laughs] Yeah.
46:11
You were telling me you're looking for work, so share me a little bit about that. No, no, but in general. I like- Working in general...
46:16
that's why I only said, said that we only had an hour for today, that that's what the whole timing was about. I, I need to start working in two minutes. [laughs] Oh, Snow, you have to go, but we can continue this.
46:28
That's what you're saying- Yeah. [laughs] Thought not... because this is being recorded. Yeah. So when are you able to jump back on? I forgot. Uh- When did we agree? We didn't- We didn't agree on anything yet. Okay.
46:40
Well, follow up with me after you're finished, um- Yes... for the day, and then we were gonna try to get a consistent schedule. Right? So yeah, let's pick this up. We're gonna take a water break, guys.
46:51
When we come back [laughs] We're gonna hear more from Snowy, everyone, at least another hour. I'm gonna get at least one more hour from her, don't worry. Oh, you will. So yes. You will. All right.
47:01
So message me after you get off work, and we'll figure a place, a time out for the rest, uh, for- Will... you know, the, the, uh, for the week, you know? Or for the next few days or whatever. We'll figure it out.
47:12
Of course we will. We always do. All right. I appreciate you Snowy. You're awesome. Thank you so much for being here. Yes. No problem. Take care. Thank you for having me, and see you later. All right, see you soon.
47:22
[laughs] Bye. Bye-bye. [laughs]
